My name is Derek Desormeaux, and I am a Senior Designer with over six years of industry experience. I focus on design strategy, motion graphics, and digital campaigns. My goal is to lead teams and drive strategic, high-quality work that makes an impact.
The perspective I bring to my work and to any team I join is that many brands look polished and safe; the ones that stand out make people feel something. People connect with what they feel. No one wants to be served something without joy or whimsy, and the best brands build on these emotional connections.

I also serve as the current Chapter President for AIGA Chicago, where I mentor fellow creatives by leading workshops, organizing events, and producing online content to support emerging designers. For nearly four years, I’ve had the privilege of helping designers launch their careers, evolve their skills, and build a supportive sub-community within AIGA Chicago that continues to show up month after month.

Before becoming a designer, I spent years as a fine artist, and I still enjoy creating art for my personal Instagram. It's a space where I started celebrating my love for cute art, Shibas, Sanrio, and the joy of creating without professional constraints. This outlet has given me the chance to experiment, refine my skills, and push the boundaries of the tools I use.
